The Giving Boxes

Dear Volunteers and friends,

 

We want to assure you that we take the health and well-being of our community, friends, and family very seriously. Like you, we are closely monitoring the quickly developing effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

 

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have decided to revise our original plan of packing boxes using volunteers from the community. This year The Giving Boxes committee will be filling the boxes over several days, so that this important ministry will remain uninterrupted.

 

We are all in this together. We will follow guidance from public health officials and government agencies, so we can continue to support the families and communities in need that are served by the 1100 boxes of food that so many of you have donated to.

 

We will miss seeing you at Christ Our King Presbyterian Church this year. We pray that you and your family remain healthy and hope to see you next year.

The Giving Boxes Committee




The Giving Boxes is a combined effort with Knox Presbyterian Church in Baltimore to provide food for Thanksgiving dinner and additional meals to over 1100 families in need in Baltimore City, Harford County, and surrounding areas.


Preparations have begun for our Giving Boxes for 2020. A food drive for non-perishable food on our list begins in August and will continue through the Fall.

Box Packing Day at Christ Our King Presbyterian Church begins at 9 am on Saturday, November 21, 2020.  With your help, the 1100 boxes will be filled with food by noon and loaded on to trucks, ready for distribution to families throughout Maryland on Monday of Thanksgiving week.


Turkeys and additional food will need to be purchased from local grocery stores and big box stores.  Therefore, additional funds are needed.  The cost of one Giving Box (frozen turkey plus box of food for Thanksgiving dinner and additional meals) is $50.00.
