Virtual Communion on Easter Sunday
Blessings dearest church,
During our continued time of social distancing and online/virtual
church, Holy Week is busy and with a few twists.
One twist will be Communion on Resurrection
Sunday. I have a brief video showing
some ideas for you.
To help you prepare I am recommending that you find elements
around already in your homes. Please do
not go out
just to get bread and grape juice.
Options for the bread element include: soup crackers, salty crackers,
baked cheese crackers, wheat crackers, buttery crackers, tortilla chips, or a
slice of bread. Of course there are
other alternatives, but these are a few ideas.
As for the juice, options include: grape juice, orange juice, apple
juice,
even iced tea, or if you are of age and sound mind perhaps a small bit
of adult grape juice.
The point is that we will not be partaking from the same physical
table, but from the same virtual table.
It is Christ’s table, and what is important is the spirit in which we do
so together. Therefore, I will
consecrate all elements,
those physically before me, and those physically
before you at the same time when we are worshipping together.
Please do not be concerned if what is available
to you is not exactly what I have, or what we typically serve in the
sanctuary.
It is the act of remembrance
and the solidarity that is most important in this meal, especially in this
moment.
In Christ,
Pastor Jeff
